Built from Scratch · Live

Vegan Action Network Website (veganactionnetwork.org)

The site originally ran on GoDaddy's website builder, limited by fixed templates and a bare-bones blog module, so I took over and rebuilt it from scratch — a dedicated block-based CMS on Nuxt + NestJS + Prisma that lets non-technical admins freely lay out pages and manage bilingual content. Admin features were iterated directly from the designers' and PM's real day-to-day publishing needs.

What Got Delivered

  • Page-scoped content management — posts and media organized by the page they belong to, not one site-wide library
  • Bilingual editing, one click away — Chinese and English side by side in one form, with one-click AI translation; no plugins, no duplicate posts
  • Custom-built doesn't mean bare-bones — table of contents, footnotes, multi-column layouts, video embeds, and live mobile preview
  • Drafts separated from live — published articles can be safely revised as drafts and only go live after preview
  • SEO built in — per-page titles and descriptions, structured data, and social share previews, no SEO plugin needed

ESG Food Website Redesign & Content Operations (esgfood.org)

My first commissioned project, taken on while I was still in the game industry — and my longest-running client, going from a one-off redesign to 3+ years of ongoing upkeep. I pushed a generic WordPress template past its limits with Elementor and heavy customization to hit the layout the PM and designers wanted, then set up publishing rules, a monthly newsletter workflow, and a training video series so non-technical members can run content themselves.

What Got Delivered

  • 3+ years of ongoing upkeep — layout and features kept evolving with the team's needs, not a one-off handoff
  • Publishing rules & newsletter workflow — turned "how do we publish" into a repeatable SOP, not tribal knowledge
  • When the template couldn't do it, I wrote the code — hand-built HTML/CSS and custom JS to match the design exactly
  • Still checking in three years later — proactively built automation that keeps cutting the team's repetitive workload
  • Full training video series — documented workflows so the team can run content operations on their own

What Clients Say

Real feedback from collaborators — quoted in full, translated from the original Chinese.

Our old site ran on a fixed template with limited functionality, and much of the content we wanted to present simply couldn't be realized — so Melody suggested we rebuild the website from scratch. At first we were honestly worried that a full rebuild would take a huge amount of time and that the process would be tedious. Instead, Melody planned everything clearly and executed with remarkable efficiency, completing the new site in a short time and keeping the whole project moving smoothly. What impressed us even more is that Melody's support didn't end once the site was finished. She patiently walked us through follow-up feature adjustments, content improvements, and new requests. Every time we proposed a change, she took care to truly understand what we needed and offered fitting suggestions, making the website more complete and richer step by step — and better suited to how we actually use it. Today, not only does the public-facing site look more professional and polished, the admin backend is also intuitive and convenient, which has greatly improved the efficiency of our day-to-day management and content updates. We're grateful for Melody's professionalism, attentiveness, and patience throughout the collaboration — we now have a website that is beautiful, functional, and easy to use.

Through round after round of discussion with Melody, laying out our design needs, our website's presentation has been massively upgraded. Melody built a dashboard for our team completely from scratch, giving us a clear, intuitive interface for managing our site's content — freeing us from the limitations we used to run into with GoDaddy's built-in site builder. She worked through problems with us together, and after every iteration, our experience improved immediately. She put her sense of design and small touches of icon work to good use, making the dashboard feel comfortable, professional, and intuitive. She designed a "media library" area for us, letting us upload multiple sets of images at once, so image management is clear at a glance. With patience, level-headedness, and professionalism from start to finish, she met every one of our requests — how our forum video series should be displayed, a timeline for major milestones, click-to-jump navigation, text paragraph indentation, table formatting, report number callouts, an article overview index, and coordinating article thumbnails with backgrounds, among others. Melody always took the time to truly understand what we needed before delivering it — and sometimes what she built ended up working even better than what we originally asked for! Are you like us — wanting to build a website, but held back by the layout limitations of a drag-and-drop site builder? Melody is absolutely the right choice to build you a custom-tailored website with a dashboard made just for you!

Website Editor

2026-07

Since ESG Food's earliest days, Melody has helped us build our WordPress site — from layout planning and custom design that matches our NGO brand image, to later website architecture optimization and operational automation as our services expanded. She has grown alongside us every step of the way, and is an incredibly trustworthy partner. What stands out most is that Melody doesn't just handle technical development — she thinks from the user's perspective and proactively suggests more efficient ways to operate the site, helping us lower management costs. Whenever we bring her a request, she grasps it quickly and proposes solutions that balance practicality with long-term maintainability. She's an engineer who's easy to work with and truly understands what clients need. Since our team's site editors changed fairly often in the early days, Melody proactively helped build out a complete set of website management guides — publishing standards, workflows, and tutorial videos — so new team members could get up to speed quickly, greatly cutting down handover time and cost. As AI technology advanced in recent years, Melody also helped us adopt automated workflows, turning tasks that used to require heavy manual effort into automated ones, saving time on article editing and publishing and improving the efficiency of our overall marketing work. Melody isn't just a technical executor — she's a partner who thinks from a business operations perspective and continually proposes optimizations. Over these years of collaboration, we've deeply felt her professionalism, care, and strong sense of responsibility, and we're grateful to have had her by our side throughout ESG Food's growth.

About Me

From the game industry to full-stack engineering — a real cross-discipline journey.

I'm Melody, a creator-minded full-stack engineer who made the jump from the game industry into software development.

In college I built small games with modular tools, and got hooked on the feeling of turning an idea into something real with my own hands. After graduating, I carried that passion into the game industry, spending three years as a game designer and sound designer. That experience sharpened my sense for "how it feels to the user" — but it also made me realize I wanted to do more than plan: I wanted to be the one rolling up my sleeves and actually building the thing.

To make that shift real, I went through AppWorks School's intensive training to build a solid engineering foundation, then took on full-stack ownership and cloud architecture in a startup environment with no playbook to follow. Without established processes to lean on, I built the hard skill of solving problems from zero and quickly breaking down complex systems.

I believe a great digital product is never just cold code — it's a fusion of real needs, good taste, and solid architecture. I now work independently, taking on client projects while continuing to share technical work on my YouTube channel. I want to combine that craft with a genuine eye for polish to build you a digital experience that's both functional and beautiful. If you have an idea — or just want to chat about what's possible — reach out any time!

Where it started

Digital Media × Game Industry

Graduated in Digital Multimedia and spent three years in the game industry as a game designer and sound designer — an experience that trained me to think from user experience and product logic first, not just the tech itself.
